Due South - art and vid appreciation post!
I thought I'd throw out some art and vids I love. I figured that since a few of you showed interest in checking out the show, I might as well start with some visuals before doing fic recs.

I think this fandom is a little slim in these areas, which is why they're combined here, but by all means add stuff you love and rec me places, because my art section is pitiful. I think one drawback is that older fandoms are more sprawled out. Good lord look at Star Trek TOS;a  good portion of the fandom isn't even available online. At least this show existed when there was internet to be had at all.

Hee! I'm not sure if this is supposed to be shippy or not, but I do love cute Fraser and Vecchio stuff. Even if Vecchio kind of looks like a mix of Vecchio and Detective Louie Gardino.

by leyna55, and of course it's lovely as hell. I can just imagine Fraser and RayK up in Canada during the summer months, chilling out and stuff.

I love Ray's skinniness and how he's sort of plucking Fraser's hat from his head. <3

Eee! Look at their curvy selves!

For more awesome art, basically check out all that j_s_cavalcante has ever done. Her lj banner is from one of my favorite F/K stories, Juggling Act, and all of her art is amazing (more recent stuff in this post), like this:

This is a cute little graphic thing that's basically the Due South gang as high school students sending notes. I'm always amused by the paper each one uses and how lifelike they look.

VIDS (all F/K unless noted)

This one isn't spectacular, but it gives newbies a gist of why F/K is so slashy.

Every other vid you have to download. The fandom is allergic to streaming sites, what can I say? :)

Goody Two Shoes (gen) FAVORITE Due South vid. It fits Fraser so well and I love its premise of how exasperating Fraser is to both Rays. And that's something rare too, a vid that focuses on all seasons and both Rays. Plus it's just hilarious and has superb editing.

Fallen Leaves (gen) a look at the criminals and victims through the first couple of seasons. I already loved this song, and I was surprised that it happened to fit so well with the source.

Better Off  YES. Fast-paced, brilliant editing, and it turned me onto Guster. (btw, also did an EXCELLENT Sylar/Mohinder vid. Fuck I loved that pairing.)

Be Gentle This one is just cute and I like how it shows Ray's lingering Stella issues.

Can't Stop This Oh lord, I love this one. Kind of sexy, a lot of fun.

You've Got a Friend in Me (Fraser + Dief) DIEF VID! TOY STORY SONG! So freaking cute, love it.

Zebra Favorite Ray vid ever. It's like the song was made for him.

Also, the song I'm listening to in this post? Was written for Fraser. For god's sake, the first lyrics are 'Daddy's ghost behind you/sleeping dog beside you'. Hello, Bob Fraser and Dief. I wanted to fit music in here, but I figure this post is big enough and most of the songs I associate with this fandom are either in the show itself or in the vids listed. I kind of want to do a vid to River by Akron/Family, but I'm lazy and have a million other projects.

***sineala linked me to stuff I'd forgotten about and stuff I haven't even seen here, so everyone thank her kindly!

The very best F/K vid ever is unfortunately not online, from the VCR vidding days. It is "The Rest Will Take Care Of Itself" by the Media Cannibals, and it is exactly the perfect song for RayK and all the clips make so much sense.

You appear to be missing SDWolfpup's You Can Call Me (gen, very good recruiter vid), Laura Shapiro's Wonder of Birds (F/K), here's luck's Out Here (Fraser-centric, which, sadly, I am still envious of as I'd been meaning to make that vid for years and never got around to it).

Guster is totally awesome (I have also always wanted to make a F/K vid to "Mona Lisa," maybe I should do that someday) and if that's the vid to "Airport", that is an awesome vid. I agree. :)

Also, zelempa has been making comic versions of some F/K stories.

Oh man, I haven't seen that first vid, must see! And I TOTALLY FORGOT WONDER OF BIRDS, BRB ADDING THESE.

And yep that's the vid to 'Airport Song'. I approve of any and all your vidding pursuits.

See, there is so much out there I probably haven't seen. I sucked more at navigating livejournal two years ago, so I'm just now starting to know where to locate the good stuff. :)

My computer is, I think, much too old to vid these days. (It's, like, seven years old. Boo.)

Couple more vids: PR Zed's Bohemian Like You is multifandom -- dS (F/V and F/K), Professionals, and Man From UNCLE. Wheeeee! It is basically a collection of slashy moments.

(I have a fondness for Diana Williams' Collide, but I know a lot of people hate the song.)

ETA: And you're welcome for the links. LJ-era dS fandom is actually hard for me to find (yes, I have the newsletter friended); it seems easier to me to lay hands on pre-LJ stuff, just because there were fiction archives and I knew who the vidders were because there were only, like, five of them. So I'm looking forward to your fic rec day, because I have read very little recent dS. :P

Now go watch the "You Can Call Me Al" vid right now. :)

ETA2: Forgot about butterfly's Pavlov's Bell. Whoa, awesomeness.
