For a multitude of reasons, I've decided to go friends-only and am only keeping a few things (like vids and fanfic) unlocked. Comment here to be added. I'm usually pretty receptive of new friends and will friend most everyone except scary blank journals or things like that. You must comment here or elsewhere if you want me to friend back, or I'll just assume that you friended me for just watching purposes.

Right, so I'm scattered everywhere on this lj, so here's a handy list of things I've created that are of note. This is NOT a complete list of everything I've done. I've intentionally left a lot of things out because they were either too old or too minor to list, thus it's a very selective list. Sorted in a roughly chronological order. A good number can be found at my page on AO3.

I posted chapter 4 of Follow the Leader. The entire story has been moved over there, so future updates will just be announced on livejournal.

Yeah, I think it's time I made a ~happy~ post, or well, a bullet list of things that are on my mind right now.
  • Currenly my main fandom interest is The Avengers, and I made a whole post about my love of Thor/Loki. It is really ongoing and just keeps building. I have cried over them twice, which is huge because I only cry over a ship if its an otp. I'm fairly sure I'll make another post about them, because I wanna rec some things and talk about my feelings.
  • I'm not excited about season 8 of Supernatural. I mean, I'll watch because fuck it, I've watched 7 seasons and I'm there until the end at this point. I mean, it looks all right, but that's all the show is now, just 'meh'.
  • I got a cat! Story: you may recall that I hate cats. Still do. But there was one cat I loved and named Alexander. We had him for just one day a month ago because my dad was given two cats in exchange for one of his puppies. Well, one of the cats was terrible, and we didn't want it. When we tried to give it back, the owner wanted both back, so I was broken-hearted for a long time. Then, the lady changed her mind, and now I have been reuinted with my Alexander. I now know why people like cats, though Alexander is the most chill cat you'll ever meet. Seriously, he just lounges around, it's great.
  • My niece is in kindergarten, so I get to spend a lot of time with just my nephew now. They both love the Avengers. In fact, my nerdiness has rubbed off on them severely. How many 5 or 3 year olds would sit through the Lord of the Rings trilogy? These two did, over the course of six days (we'd watch half a movie before bedtime.)
  • I will pee on everything J.J. Abrams loves if he doesn't give us some details about this fucking movie soon. Sorry, Star Trek into Darkness. The movie after that will probably be Star Trek Rises.
  • I'm really warm and cozy in the land of heatens. My family has taken my athiesm mostly well, even if my mom 'worries about me.' I like that about my family--they may not understand me or agree with me, but they do accept me. It took me a long time to recognize that distinction.
  • Teen Wolf, Stiles/Derek? ME GUSTA. I didn't think that would happen, given that I thought season one of that show was utter crap. It only got really good in season two and fucking fantastic in the latter half of season two. I can tell that (at least at this point) it's not going to be a huge obsession of mine, though. I'm already tired of reading fic and it's only been a couple of weeks. Still, considering how much evidence I need to back a ship, they've done well catching my interest.
  • Mitt Romney is a fucking joke. I've really kept up with politics, and I swear, October 3rd I am so watching that first debate with popcorn and booze. It's going to be hilarious, because Romney will undoubtedly fuck up an say some ignorant shit, and Obama will be his usual calm, cool, logical self.

Title: Eat Your Feelings
Series: Reboot
Pairing: Kirk/Spock
Rating: R
Word count: 19,000
Genre: Humor, first time
Warnings: none
Summary: Kirk is court-martialed when he is unable to prove that he did not cause the murder of a crewman. Six months later, the charges are lifted and Kirk takes command again, but now he must contend with both his new unflattering waistline and the torrid love affair between Spock and Admiral Pike.
Notes: I don't even want to go into the hell this fic gave me since the April of 2011, when the poor soul lifeisastranger won a bid for help_japan. I can at least say that I have paid interest and have added more than 17,000 words to the minimum word count, plus a mini-mix of songs inspired by the story (no cover art, because I tried and it looked terrible, trust me.) Beta by the lovely asmallcoat.

General announcement

I will no longer be posting fic on livejournal, mainly because I don't like splitting long stories into parts. All new stories will now be posted solely at the AO3 archive. I will still make a fic post on lj and when I have a new chapter of Follow the Leader, I will upload the story to AO3 and post new chapters there.

I had kind of a fucked up dream last night. I was watching the newest Supernatural episode and liveblogging it on tumblr. I don't remember much of the episode until it culminated in Castiel kissing Dean. Needless to say, tumblr went apeshit and even I was like, DAMN. It goes on and Dean's not overly interested (bless my wincest-loving heart) but then some plot point arrives in which Dean has to fuck Castiel. Yes, fuck him, but hold your horses because he has to do it with this magical object, and it has razors on it. Ow. In fact, he doesn't even have to fuck Castiel, but he volunteers because angel and how can you ask anyone else to endure something like that. I remember posting, "dear lord, this is a metaphor for the entire Dean/Castiel relationship", and from there I woke up.

Oh wait no, before waking up I switched to Star Trek for a second, in which Jim was part of a construction team building a house and it was Spock's new house with Uhura, and oh yeah Spock was pregnant and staring at Jim sweating in the hot sun, shirtless. What the fuck is with my mind?

Posting late, but whatever. My new e-mail is bigmamag2@gmail.com because my yahoo e-mail was apparently hacked. I'm sort of wistful because I've had that account since I first discovered fandom 15 years ago, but I suppose all things come to an end and yahoo was kind of a dick anyway.

I did a small friends cut, most probably won't notice. I just sort of removed people I never talk to or have no similar interests anymore.

I sort of wish I could be more into Sherlock fandom because it seems like EVERYONE is going apeshit and I'm over here in my corner, eating some Tapioca pudding, nodding slightly and saying, "yeah, I feel that." Don't get me wrong: I LOVED the second series and I reblog awesome posts on tumblr, but I'm not reading fics or watching vids.

Is anyone else watching the Nostalgia Critic's Star Trek month? I was super excited when I first heard he was doing something Star Trek, but so far I haven't been impressed. He's just reviewing the bad ones and he has barely anything new to say. I bet I'll like the reviews better when it goes into TNG era since I haven't seen those movies and know little about TNG. Also come on, he has not made one K/S related joke. How can you watch these movies and not include at least one lame throwaway joke? I mean, do people really look at this

and see nothing of note? He didn't even show the scene, and it's easily the best part of the first movie (some would say the only good part.) And that's bullshit because of the three Star Trek movies Rifftrax has done, there are several hilarious slashy jokes. I swear, if you never saw Star Trek and watched these reviews first, you'd barely know Kirk and Spock were that close and that's a friggen crime. It's like me reviewing The Illiad and making it seem like Achilles was mildly acquainted with Patroclus. It's annoying and quite an understatement.

My journal has been, how do you say, bleak. So I figured I'd talk about good, fannish stuff to show that not everything in life is terrible.

SO EXCITED about Star Trek filming. I nearly died at the images of Chris Pine with blonde hair. CAPTAIN FINE HAST RETURNED. I'm eagerly awaiting set pics and ones of ZQ with no eyebrows. And oh lord, Benedict Cumberbatch as the main villain? I'm selfishly hoping it's not a Klingon because I don't want that lovely face all covered in makeup or *shudders* given Klingon forehead ridges.

Speaking of that lovely man, dear lord were the last three Sherlock episodes amazing. I admit to crying a little during John's speech at the end of the third. JUST TAKE MY HEART JOHN WATSON, TAKE IT. I thought about it and if I had to rate them in order of which ones I liked best, I couldn't do it. The one I liked the least though was The Blind Baker, but one out of six is NOT bad and it wasn't like that episode was bad in general. Such quality!

Supernatural has been all right. I mean, it's nothing fucking amazing, but not terrible. Is it strange that my new favorite episode is Death's Door? I don't know why, but it was so beautiful to me and if Bobby has to go, that was the best fucking way it could have gone. Not sure how I feel about

So sorry it took so long! I had no idea how much trouble would come from just uploading the thing, which is why as of now it only has one download option. A 4gb file is no small matter. Also, I have no idea what to tag this, so any suggestions are cool. :)

I present the ultimate K/S compilation dvd! Just over four and a half hours of space husband goodness. Included is the best K/S moments in the TV show and movies, a selection of fan vids, and every episode of The Ship's Closet aired thus far, up to and including the audio edition. This file was WAY too big to upload as a single file and frankly it took forever to upload the parts. I would not recommend downloading these files with a slow internet connection.

Screenshots: (1) (2) (3)

Part one
Part two
Part three
Part four
Part five
Part six

INSTRUCTIONS:

If you don't want to actually burn the dvd and just want to watch it off your computer, skip all instructions except 'how to get the .iso file'. You can either mount your extracted .iso file with something like daemon tools* or simply open it with a good media player. It won't play on wpm for me, but it worked perfectly on VLC media player*.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BURN THIS TO A DVD
1) winrar*. Needed to extract the .iso file.
2) computer with dvd rewritable drive.
3) a blank dvd that works well with your computer
4) an .iso file writing program, like iso image burner*.
*all programs listed here are free.

HOW TO GET THE .ISO FILE (new instructions as of 1/29/12)
Once you have successfully downloaded all six parts, change each file exension from .doc to .rar (google 'changing file extensions' if you're not sure how to do that on what OS you're using.) Make sure you have winrar installed. Highlight all six parts, right-click, and select 'extract here'. You will be asked for a password. The password is thyla. The parts will now combine and extract to one large .iso file after a few seconds/minutes.

HOW TO BURN YOUR .ISO FILE TO A DVD
1) Place a blank dvd into your dvd-rw drive. If you aren't sure if your computer is capable of dvd writing or what kind of blank dvd to purchase, refer to your computer manual. Usually the drive will say 'DVD-RW' or if all else fails, you'll figure out pretty fast if you can burn dvds when you try to actually write. As for blank dvds, most computers use DVD-R and I know that's what I use. Never get DVD+RW because those will rarely play in a standard dvd player.
2) Install and open iso image burner. Under '.iso image file', go to where you put the 'spacehusbands.iso' file. Check under 'CD-R/RW Driver' to make sure you have the right dvd selected. Now go back to the top and push the 'burn' button.

I'll try to answer as many questions as I can if you guys are having problems, but I'm no tech support, so attempt this at your own peril. Enjoy!

I love how they've made using cuts that much harder. I go to edit anything and suddenly the cut is jacked up. Also, one some posts I've noticed that the comments get eaten especially posts in which there is a high, fast volume of posting. I shudder to think what an ontd_startrek party post would be like nowadays.

I've gotten to the point where I only want to use livejournal for commenting on communities and fic posting. I'm being a terrible lj friend, I know. I'm a great tumblr friend, if you love either Kirk/Spock or wincest. I may have to do a major flist cut and I don't want to do that just to keep up. I also find that I'm much happier on tumblr because livejournal, let's face it, is mostly about people's real lives and as I have way too many problems myself, it's disheartening coming onto lj and either hearing about problems ten times worse than my own or hearing about how great everything is. I'm a bitter, souless bitch. I just want to come online and relax when I do it. Tumblr is a fun, easy way to do that, so that's why I'm more active on there. I've already seen a few defriendings recently, and I don't blame a single person. At least I'll be doing Supernatural reactions on here again and if I ever figure out what to talk about, perhaps space husband meta.

Just wanted to say that. :D Oh, and I never updated about the family friend's house fire. Their house is completely gone, luckily they have insurance. Amazingly, they only lost two dogs to smoke inhalation, so they still have 12 other dogs plus their horse. That was my #1 nightmare about the situation, and I'm glad it turned out okay.

And I really need to update/check my flist more often. You guys could be discovering the cure for cancer and I wouldn't know.

Yeah, I haven't been around much lately and I have no good excuse, so...here's space husband meta pulled from my ass and is possibly redundant? I just have a lot of feelings and none of them include communicating outside of tumblr (though even that is sparing really) or getting things done and all to do with fangirling over fictional characters. I think I'm preaching to the choir on this, so here we go.

Let me help: It"s better than "you had me from hello"Collapse )

HELP. I have no idea what kind of meta to do next, so I'm taking requests. Anything you'd like me to talk about? I can't promise I'll do it, but you never know, I'm pretty verbose in my love of space husbands.

Note: I am SO sorry this took so long to get this out. I had a bit of crisis with this fic and combined with a stint of writer's block, it was a slow time going. However, I now have a good outline and am working steadily on the next part, so hopefully it won't be that long until I finish this thing.. Beta by bostongirl2003.

I HAVE WATCHED X-MEN. IT WAS GAY AND GLORIOUS.

Um, furthermore, I have decided to change my big bang from the My Fair Lady-inspired K/S fic to a Star Trek/X-Men: First Class crossover. Or at least I think I am. I know that crossovers are allowed in startrekbigbang, but the thing it's not going to be more leaned toward the Star Trek side but equally spent in the povs of X-Men movie characters and Star Trek movie characters. Is that kosher or should I ask the mods? Maybe it'll help that it's going to be set in the Star Trek universe.

Yeah, and I don't care what the fuck happens, I'm finishing the next part to my wip and just finishing that thing so I can a.) finish it, b.) finish my help_japan fic and c.) finally get started on my big bang. DEAR LORD, WHY DO I SIGN UP FOR SO MUCH STUFF??

Had a wincesty dream last night. Sam and Dean were working this case and for some reason Ruby was alive and I guess this was season 4? I dunno anyway, Sam was going to have sex with this blonde chick and Dean was jealous and Ruby offered to have sex with him, so Dean did, and for some reason I was like me gusta because Dean wanted to fuck Sam by proxy and well, they were in the woods and they could hear each other have sex with girls. Then it changed up and for some reason Sam lost his memory and got shit jumbled together. Dean took him to a therapist in desperation and Sam started out talking normal but then started talking about hunting at the advertising firm he works for, got up to 'get back from lunch hour', called Dean 'Jensen' then gave him a small kiss. What made it awesome was the fact that I was doing that dream thing where I think I'm watching an actual episode, so for a few moments I knew fandom was going to explode in utter squee.

Jared Padalecki got a twitter. I got a twitter. Am using it solely to follow a handful of spn and trek cast members.

There will be a new Star Trek video game and users can control Kirk and Spock. Not interested unless I can make them kiss and if it's available on pc.

Today is a good day.
